Beautiful entrée, Willa, candid and elgantly laid out. Metaphors as durable as a coherent homily.

I see you, too, re: the GC. The classism at higher levels of church governance is awkward at best, destructive at worst. A microcosm of state and global governance.

Thanks for this piece!

Thanks, Monica. A story: A couple decades ago I served on Program, Budget, and Finance, PB&F. We were doing the required anti-racism training and tiptoed around the classism thing. My small group was supposed to discuss what was one thing we as a committee could do to address some of the issues. Representing Province 6 with its significant Dakota membership, I said, "Meet at the Ramada instead of the Radisson." Crickets. And we moved on. :-/

Yes, subtitles matter. Yes, your words continue to matter, Willa. So glad you are writing along with all the other activities in your life. I look forward to "To be continued . . . "

Thanks, David. I just heard from my publisher. Time to restart the engines for a pub date sometimes in January-April 2026. The book has had some reworking in response to feedback. Two chapters have become four. Am glad to get on the publisher’s timetable, because without deadlines I could keep editing for ever!
