We are having a wonderful time in this retreat. People are dealing with real stuff. Helen will be preaching on the prodigal this Sunday. It’s Mothering Sunday in Ireland. I am eager to hear what she has to say!
I am my greatest and most repetitive abuser. Working to prune my, by now, hard-wired stinkin’ thinkin’, seems a lifelong a challenge. Gratefully, I am growing more successful at self-talking myself out of emotional pain/disfunction.
This was one of the clearest explanations I have ever read of the way pain from abusers can lodge in our brains and hurt us from within. Thank you so much. The way you connected this to the spiritual practice of forgiveness is spot on and was so helpful for me.
Ah, thank you, Erin. I find I can't relate to good advice about health and spiritual practices until I can make it concrete. I love discovering others who appreciate my special interest :-)
thank you for this neuroscience. and timely as I get to preach this coming Sunday- the Prodigal Lost Son/ the forgiving father!
